Welcome to Nepal and the beginning of your remarkable Mustang Jeep Tour.
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Himalayan Sherpa Exodus Team Treks & Expedition (P) Ltd. will meet you at the airport and assist with your transfer to the hotel. After check-in, you can rest and recover from your journey.
Depending on your arrival time, the afternoon may be used to explore the lively streets of Thamel, Kathmandu's well-known tourist district. Its colourful lanes are filled with handicraft shops, cafés, restaurants, trekking stores, and small local markets, offering an enjoyable introduction to Nepal.
Later, our team will provide a detailed briefing about the Mustang Jeep Tour. We will discuss the route, road conditions, necessary equipment, altitude considerations, permits, and other practical information to help you prepare comfortably for the days ahead.

After breakfast, our team will continue the necessary arrangements for your Upper Mustang Restricted Area Permit while you explore some of the most important cultural and historical landmarks of the Kathmandu Valley.
Today's sightseeing programme may include several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You will visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage sites in Nepal, followed by Boudhanath Stupa, whose enormous white dome remains a major centre of Tibetan Buddhist culture.
The journey continues to Swayambhunath Stupa, commonly known as the Monkey Temple, situated on a hill overlooking Kathmandu Valley. You may also explore Patan Durbar Square, renowned for its traditional Newari architecture, ancient temples, courtyards, and extraordinary wood and stone craftsmanship.
Later in the day, you will be transferred to Kathmandu Airport for a short and scenic flight to Pokhara.

After an early breakfast in Pokhara, your overland adventure towards Mustang begins.
The initial journey follows a scenic road through Nepal's middle hills towards Beni, passing terraced farmland, settlements, river valleys, and green mountain landscapes. From Beni, the route gradually becomes more dramatic as the jeep follows the famous Kali Gandaki River towards the high Himalayan region.
Along the way, we stop near Rupse Waterfall, a spectacular cascade descending beside the mountain highway. The surrounding cliffs, river gorge, waterfalls, and changing vegetation make this section particularly photogenic.
As the journey progresses through Ghasa, you formally enter the Mustang region, where permits are checked before continuing farther north.
The scenery changes noticeably beyond this point. Forested hills slowly give way to broader valleys framed by towering Himalayan peaks. You will pass traditional villages including Lete, Kobang, and Tukuche before arriving at the beautiful village of Marpha.
Marpha is particularly famous for its whitewashed stone houses, narrow paved lanes, Buddhist monastery, apple orchards, and locally produced apple products. After checking into a comfortable local lodge, the remainder of the evening can be spent exploring this picturesque Thakali settlement.

Following breakfast, we leave Marpha and drive north towards Jomsom, the administrative centre of Mustang.
The road passes apple orchards, traditional villages, monasteries, and wide sections of the Kali Gandaki Valley. Jomsom is one of the major settlements of the region and provides essential facilities including hotels, bakeries, banks, shops, government offices, and a small mountain airport connecting Mustang with Pokhara.
From Jomsom, the journey continues towards the peaceful Dhumba Lake, situated near the traditional village of Thini. Surrounded by barren hills and Himalayan landscapes, the turquoise-coloured lake offers a tranquil setting away from the busier travel route.
We then travel towards Muktinath, one of Nepal's most important pilgrimage destinations for both Hindus and Buddhists. Located beneath the Thorong La region, the temple complex attracts devotees from Nepal, India, Tibet, and many other parts of the world. You will have time to visit the sacred temple, observe its 108 water spouts, and appreciate the distinctive spiritual atmosphere of the area.
After visiting Muktinath, we descend towards Kagbeni, an ancient settlement positioned near the entrance to Upper Mustang. Its mud-brick houses, narrow alleyways, monastery, and surrounding desert landscape provide an early glimpse of Upper Mustang's Tibetan-influenced culture.
Our final destination is Chhuksang, another traditional Mustang village surrounded by colourful cliffs and unusual geological formations.

Today we travel deep into the extraordinary landscapes of Upper Mustang.
Leaving Chhuksang after breakfast, the jeep climbs gradually through an increasingly arid Himalayan environment. Wind-shaped cliffs, deep canyons, colourful rock formations, traditional settlements, and ancient chortens accompany the drive.
The route passes through villages such as Samar, Syangbochen, and Ghiling before crossing high mountain passes including Nyi La, situated at approximately 4,010 metres, and Ghami La.
Continuing through the remote highlands, you will pass centuries-old Buddhist monuments and striking views across Mustang's vast plateau before eventually arriving at Lo Manthang, the historic walled capital of the former Kingdom of Lo.
After lunch and some rest, we continue north towards the Chhoser Valley, close to the Tibetan border. This region contains fascinating ancient cave systems carved into dramatic sandstone cliffs.
One of the main attractions is the multi-level Jhong Cave, an extraordinary man-made cave complex containing numerous chambers connected by passages and openings carved directly into the rock.
You may also visit the Lowo Nyiphug Namdrol Norbuling Monastic School, where Buddhist traditions and monastic education continue to play an important role in local community life.
After exploring the Chhoser area, we return to Lo Manthang for the night.

After breakfast, take some time to discover the remarkable heritage of Lo Manthang before continuing the journey.
The ancient walled settlement remains the cultural heart of Upper Mustang. Traditional mud-brick homes, narrow alleys, Buddhist monasteries, prayer walls, chortens, and the former royal palace preserve a strong connection with the region's Tibetan Buddhist history.
Leaving Lo Manthang, the jeep journey leads towards some of Upper Mustang's most culturally significant religious sites.
Among them is Lo Ghekar Monastery, also known as Ghar Gompa. Surrounded by an isolated mountain landscape, this ancient Buddhist monastery occupies an important place in Mustang's religious traditions and is associated with centuries-old Himalayan Buddhist history.
Depending on road and seasonal conditions, the day's exploration also incorporates the Luri Gompa region, renowned for its extraordinary cave architecture, Buddhist murals, chortens, and remote settlements. The area illustrates how spiritual traditions, architecture, and the natural landscape have developed together across centuries.
Later, we continue towards Tsarang, one of the most historically significant villages in Upper Mustang. Its large monastery, traditional houses, ancient chortens, and former palace provide another fascinating perspective on the history of the Kingdom of Lo.

Following breakfast, we begin the return journey through the spectacular Mustang landscape.
The jeep travels south through traditional villages, high passes, dry valleys, and colourful mountain formations. Along the way, we pass through the region around Ghami and Ghiling, both historically important stopping places on the ancient trading routes connecting Nepal and Tibet.
From Syangbochen, we make an excursion towards Chungsi Cave, one of Upper Mustang's most fascinating spiritual locations. Set dramatically within a natural rock formation, this sacred cave has long been associated with Buddhist meditation and pilgrimage.
The peaceful setting, prayer flags, ancient religious objects, and rugged cliffs surrounding the cave create a distinctive atmosphere that reflects the spiritual character of Mustang.
After the visit, we continue towards Samar, crossing landscapes near the Yamda La and Bhena La areas.

Today we gradually leave the high desert environment of Upper Mustang and descend towards the greener valleys of lower Mustang and Myagdi.
After breakfast, we travel south through Chele, Chhuksang, Tangbe, Kagbeni, Jomsom, and Marpha. The journey provides another opportunity to appreciate the changing landscapes, traditional villages, colourful cliffs, Himalayan peaks, and broad Kali Gandaki Valley.
As the elevation decreases, the environment gradually transforms from the dry Mustang plateau into forested hills and subtropical river valleys.
Our destination is Tatopani, a riverside settlement famous for its natural hot springs.
After several days of travelling through Mustang's rugged terrain, soaking in the warm mineral water can be particularly refreshing. The natural hot spring provides an ideal opportunity to relax tired muscles while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of this Himalayan village.
Spend the evening resting at your lodge in Tatopani.

The road follows the Kali Gandaki corridor through mountain settlements, river valleys, terraced hills, and increasingly lush countryside. On clear days, occasional views of Dhaulagiri and surrounding Himalayan peaks accompany the journey.
Passing through Beni, the route gradually becomes smoother as we travel towards Pokhara.
Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. After many days in the remote Mustang region, Pokhara provides a pleasant contrast with its comfortable cafés, restaurants, shopping areas, and relaxed lakeside atmosphere.
You may spend the evening walking beside Phewa Lake, enjoying a meal overlooking the water, or simply resting at the hotel.
